Kate has been involved in health and wellness for many years. She has worked in the health care field for over 20 years, as a computer consultant for clinicians, and providing customer support for various health care computer products.  She is an avid amateur athlete, competing in triathlons, duathlons, marathons, cycling centuries and multiple other races.  She also enjoys numerous other outside activities including hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing. She has given much time to youth coaching as well, coaching elementary and middle school age children in running and speed, agility, and quickness for over 5 years.  She has also helped adult athletes reach their goals in running and triathlons.  After moving to Colorado in 2009, she decided to pursue a wellness coaching certification because of her firm belief that a balanced, wellness-focused life is important not only for health, but also for personal well-being and fulfillment. The National Wellness Institute defines wellness as "a process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence." Wellness includes fitness, but also nutritional, spiritual, personal, and fiscal health as well. A wellness coach works as an ally to help you achieve your wellness goals.  The accountability and encouragement is what makes a wellness coach better and more successful than just using any of the multitudes of wellness websites available.  Having a partner that helps you determine realistic goals, and who helps plot the path to reach those goals, and who is in touch with you weekly to see how you are doing, makes a huge difference.  We all have read self help books or made the New Year’s resolution only to fail to do what we firmly intended to do just a few weeks ago. You, the client, are responsible for achieving the results, and achieving results takes an enormous amount of discipline and determination. However, having a wellness coach will help you define and set attainable goals, and will support you in the process of achieving those goals. In 2012, Kate became certified through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute to teach Dr. Sears' L.E.A.N. Start classes for parents of children aged 3 -12.  She also became certified to teach Dr. Sears' Prime time Health workshops for people in their second half of life to learn ways to improve their health and wellness and live a higherquality life. These workshops are available both in-person and online. With the online class, you can go at your own pace, in your own home!  She offers weekly conference calls to make sure all the information is covered.  You also have the opportunity to share insights with other participants and make sure all questions are answered. In 2013, Kate became certified as a personal trainer to continue offering clients the most comprehensive services possible.  In 2016, Kate became certified by Precision Nutrition to offer the most up-to-date nutritional coaching. And in 2017, Kate is preparing to sit for the International Wellness Coach certification as testimony to offering the best coaching available in the world!
